    Yemeni Riyal is local currency. Modern banking services are available I in most of the major cities, which also provide credit card services.
     

  • Area and Location:

    • Yemen is in the regoin of the Southern Peninsula and in 1000BC it was ruled by three successive civilizations being Minean, Sabaean and Himyarit. Its unique culture is still evident today in the architecture of its cities, towns and villages.

    The country gained independence from the Turks in 1918 and Imam Yahya became the country's King, although Yemen's independence was recognised by Britain in 1925. Imam Yahya's rule came to an end in 1948 and he was succeeded by his son, Ahmed, who continued his reign until 1962. Mohamed Al Badr took over for a very short period of time until the revolution on 26th September 1962 by Colonel Abdullah Al Sallal who proclaimed the country as Yemen Arab Republic. It was continued until 1979 when the President Ali Abdullah Saleh governed Yemen.

    Yemen is attracting more and more tourists every year because its historical culture will lead you towards the time Queen Sheba on one end and the tomb of the Prophet Hood. It attracts visitors from all over the world to witness its cultural way of living and its unique architecture.

    Sana'a is the capital of Yemen and an ancient historical city, while Aden is important and attracive to the business community due to its free zone.

    On the boundary between the Middle and Far East, crossed by ancient caravan routes, Yemen is a door ajar on two worlds, the Arab and the Indian, miraculously come together to create a rich and original culture. Scorching-hot deserts and crystal-clear water, mountains of sand and green oases all fuel the legend of what was once the land of the Queen of Sheba. In short, Yemen is a weave of impressions, suspended between two worlds, between two seas, between tradition and legend, between history and enigma.
